Over the years of working and playing with computers I have found some very useful free programs that have worked very nicely for protecting your computer, alone with some free programs for organizing and editing. With that I would like to share these programs with you.
The first program is a free anti-virus program called Avast. This program works just as well as your expensive Norton Anit-Virus or your McAfee. I use this program on all my computers at home and work. The link is : Free Avast
The next program is a free firewall protection program called Zone Alarm. This program to works just as well as the Norton Personal Firewall. The software is also free and as free updates too. The link is: Free Zone Alarm
Anti - Spyware program I have downloaded the beta version from Microsoft. This version so far, even though its a beta, has been working pretty good. This can only be downloaded if you have a legal copy of Windows XP software. The link is: Windows AntiSpyware (Beta)
For those who Zip alot of files and have paid for WinZip, there is another program out there that is free and easy to use called IZarc. The link is: IZarc
For those who do alot of surfing on the web I have found that using Maxthon browser very simple and easy to use. Its free, comes with its own Window Pop-UP blocker, which is a plus.
For those who have numerous DVDs, CDs, Books and Software programs and like to have a organized list of all these on your computer there is a program called Media Man. Now they have done what they call update or new version to this program. I was able to get this program when it was still free and works just fine. Anyone who chats with their friends online and has numerous accoutns with Yahoo, MSN, AOL and wouldl ike to have just one messanger window open a friend has recommended using Trillian. The basic version is free and have been told easy to use, but if you wouldl ike the Pro version you may contact me to recieve the simple to use update.
This one program is not free but is worth the price. Anyone who uses Outlook Express for your email and has had their computer crash for any reason most likely your emails will not be recovered. This software called Outlook Express Backup has more than saved my software nightmares! For $40.00 the program is well worth it.
